Fasting Focus: Give up something for the whole month of December that would be a serious challenge.
Keeping in the spirit of Luke 21:1-4, the poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins worth only a few cents.
Then He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury, and He saw also a certain poor widow putting in two mites. So He said, “Truly I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all; for all these out of their abundance have put in offerings for God, but she out of her poverty has put in all the livelihood that she had”. Luke 2 1:1-4
I read this quote sometime ago that said, “A religion which costs nothing is good for nothing. Like a certain kind of faith which we read of, it is dead, being alone. How much meaning was conveyed in the reply which one man made to another who offered to contribute a small amount to some benevolent object, and said, ‘I can give this and not feel it!’. Would it not be better for you, my friend, to increase it to such an amount that you will feel it? So in every case, a person should feel what he does, and should do what he will be likely to feel, or morally there will be but very little good resulting from it.”
Fasting without prayer is just dieting!
Much prayer and fasting, much power; little prayer and fasting, little power; no prayer and fasting, no power!
God releases supernatural power, favor and protection over the church when the corporate body fasts together!
