Fasting Focus: Give up eating something different every week that you enjoy. Example: The first week I (Pastor Rob) am giving up pork.
Prayer Focus: Ask God to give you wisdom and understanding of His Word as you read it each day. Listed below are the scriptures to read each day.
Fasting is a Christian discipline that helps us spiritually, mentally, emotionally, financially, and physically. It even helps our memory.
“But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest when I preached to others, I myself should be disqualified.”
Our bodies were designed to heal themselves, and fasting helps the healing to take place. Fasting detoxifies our bodies, removing toxic elements introduced by the foods we eat. When you fast, the poisons that are damaging your system will begin to come out.
Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, saw fasting as a remedy within. He said “Everyone has a doctor in him or her, and we just have to help it in its work. The natural healing force within each one of us is the greatest force in getting well. Our food should be our medicine; our medicine should be our food, but to eat when you’re sick is to feed your sickness.”
