Deacons are the overseers of the church facility and assist Pastor Rob in any role that he asks them to, including baptisms and communion.
Deacons regularly meet on the first Saturday of the month from 9 AM to 11 AM during the school year.

Chairperson Deacon Board
Jonathan Kelly grew up in Chicago and still lives in his old neighborhood. His vocation is serving at the church. Besides being the Deacon Chairperson, he drives one of the church vans and is involved with neighborhood evangelism. He is assisted in his church work by his wife, LaShone, and children. They cover the Breakfast Ministry once a month, assist in take-down every Sunday after church, and often cover serving at potlucks. His youngest children are the core of the Gospel Choir. Here’s an interview from a couple of years ago: Kelly Family video.
One of the tasks he is working on is determining why many young adults who grew up in the church do not regularly attend church services. The picture below on the right shows his many of his children and their families at his ordination as Deacon. The one on the left shows Jonathan and LaShone, also at his ordination as Deacon. The nine youngest live at home while the six older ones have families of their own or are in the Armed Forces.
